The government released an action plan to stop sexual violence and harassment in the province, including its workplaces. The plan says the government will, among other things:
- Amend the OHS Act to include a definition of sexual harassment, set out explicit requirements for employers to investigate and address workplace harassment and require employers to make every reasonable effort to protect workers from harassment
- Create a new Code of Practice that will describe steps employers can take to comply with the law
- Establish a special enforcement team of inspectors trained to address complaints of workplace harassment and enforce the Act’s harassment provisions
- Develop educational materials to help employers create a safer workplace, free of harassment.
