June 25: Climate Change Initiatives Announced

The government announced that it’ll renew and update the province’s current, expiring regulations governing carbon emissions, including the Specified Gas Emitters Regulation. In addition, an advisory panel will be created to comprehensively review Alberta’s climate change policy, consult stakeholders and provide advice on a permanent set of measures. And the government will double the province’s carbon tax from $15 per tonne to $30 by 2017.
