A company burned a pile of garbage about nine metres wide by 18 metres long and two metres high on its property. The pile included metal, plastic, Styrofoam, wire, oil filters, aerosol paint cans and a refrigerator. The company pleaded guilty to burning materials without approval from Alberta Environment and Water. The court fined it about $4,000 and ordered it to pay more than $16,000 to a project that will supply sealable bins to 12 waste transfer sites [Smith’s Service (Lougheed) Ltd., Govt.
