Canadian Labour Congress (CLC) says that with fatality rates on the rise, it’s time to realize the need for change. Data from the Association of Workers’ Compensation Boards of Canada shows that worker fatalities have been increasing, from 758 in 1993 to 1,014 last year—almost three workers every day. The CLC’s goal is to have a special prosecutor trained in corporate criminal negligence appointed in every jurisdiction as has been done for drunk driving, drugs and gangs.
