After an inspector issued a number of safety orders relating to a construction site, an administrative penalty of nearly $40,000 was imposed on the company that was the prime contractor. The company wanted the penalty suspended because of its dire financial situation. The WCAT agreed, noting that the company lost more than $350,000 last year. It explained that forcing the company to pay the administrative penalty would likely cause it serious financial harm [June 8, 2010].
