Town Charged with Safety Violations for Trench Incident


A worker for a town was inside a trench when one wall gave way, partially burying him. He injured his back and shoulder and was admitted to the hospital. The town has been charged with four violations of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations, including failing to ensure that workers inside a trench are effectively protected, excavated material is positioned at a safe distance from the trench and safety procedures are followed and failing to provide proper instruction and supervision of workers [Town of Massey Drive, Govt.
