A worker gathering roofing materials on a roof with a wheelbarrow stepped backwards through an opening and fell about six metres. He injured his arm and back. An MOL investigation found that the sheet metal company didn’t cover openings it made in the roof the previous day, although it knew workers would be on the roof the next day. It pleaded guilty to failing to protect the worker from falling through the opening with either a guardrail system or a protective covering and was fined $65,000 [Reg and Son Sheet Metal Inc., Govt.
