Printing Company Fined $75,000 for Worker’s Hand Injuries


Workers were restarting a press machine that had two hydraulically powered towers that came together to close the press. Three workers pressed separate buttons on the machine, causing it to start. The towers closed on a worker’s hand, crushing his fingers and fracturing his wrist. The company pleaded guilty to failing to ensure that the press was equipped with an automatic start-up device.
