Nov.  6: Truck Carrying Ammonium Nitrate Catches Fires

A truck driver hauling ammonium nitrate, which can be used in explosives, noticed smoke coming from underneath his carpet. He pulled over, got out and tried to put out the fire with his fire extinguishers but was unsuccessful. That stretch of highway was closed for several hours and reopened after the flames in the truck died down without spreading to the cargo. An evacuation order was issued for the surrounding area but later rescinded.
