The Attorney General of Canada is trying to block an inquest into the death of a Yukon RCMP officer, arguing that the inquest’s purposes have already been served by the seven investigations into the incident, including those from the RCMP, Human Resources and Skills Development Canada and the Transportation Safety Board. Two officers were testing the performance of a flat-bottom aluminum boat when it capsized. One officer was rescued; the other drowned trying to swim to shore.
