June 9: No OHS Charges in Young Worker’s Death

A teenager working at a lumberyard was crushed to death when a forklift being driven by another young worker flipped over. The lumberyard owner said the workers didn’t have permission to drive the forklift and neither had been trained to do so. After investigating the incident, OHS officials decided there wasn’t sufficient evidence to convict the lumberyard and so aren’t laying any charges against it.
