Golf Resort Fined $14,000 for Trench Collapse


A golf resort worker was injured after being partially buried when the sides of a trench collapsed during the installation of new water and sewer pipes. The resort pleaded guilty to four safety violations, including failing to ensure that workers were protected from cave-ins or sliding material in a trench; failing to notify the OHS Division of a dangerous  occurrence; failing to ensure work was sufficiently and competently supervised; and not having an OHS program.
