Feb. 7: Construction Crane Used to Rescue Injured Worker

The worker was on a scaffold doing maintenance on a fourth-floor food court when a pane of glass from the arched ceiling let go and hit him on the head. The fire department’s high-angle rescue team lowered him about 12 metres from the scaffold and onto a special stretcher. They then used an on-site construction crane to raise him through a window to the roof, where he could be taken down the elevator. His injuries are reported to be non-life-threatening.
