Excavating Company Faces OHS Charges for Worker’s Death


A pavement milling machine overturned into a water-filled ditch, killing the worker who’d been operating it. The government just charged his employer with four OHS violations for failing to provide training and supervision and to ensure familiarity with health and safety hazards; inspection, repair and maintenance of mobile equipment was carried out according to manufacturer’s instructions; and that a person who operates mobile equipment on a highway is the holder of an appropriate class of licence [Farrell’s Excavating Ltd., Govt.
