A worker was struck and killed by a rotating counterweight of an oil well pumpjack. His employer pleaded guilty to violating Sec. 310(2)(a) of the OHS Code and was penalized $275,000, including a $2,500 fine, $250,000 payment to Enform and the Alberta Workers’ Health Centre and $22,500 payment to the Work Plays School Program [Bonterra Energy Corp., Govt. News Release, Dec. 5, 2011].
