An electrician was walking next to a concrete block wall when a strong wind suddenly blew it over. He was pinned under the wall, suffering chest and pelvis injuries. The MOL concluded that a masonry company worker had removed the wall’s temporary bracing earlier that day. The constructor and masonry company pleaded guilty to failing to ensure that the wall was designed and constructed to resist the wind and adequately braced to prevent it from collapsing. The court fined the constructor $75,000 and the masonry company $50,000 [Bondfield Construction Company Ltd. and BMC Masonry, Govt. News Release, May 28, 2010].
