April 7: Hot Air Balloon Pilot’s Workers’ Comp Benefits Cut Off


The pilot of a hot air balloon that crashed, killing two women and seriously injuring several others, won’t be getting any more workers’ comp benefits. He had been getting benefits for his burns and other injuries as well as depression and post-traumatic stress. He’d asked for his temporary wage loss benefits to be extended for six or nine months, but WorkSafeBC refused and a review officer upheld that decision.
