April 14: No Charges in Second Sawmill Explosion

The BC Criminal Justice Branch says no charges will be laid in the Lakeland Mills sawmill explosion that killed two and injured 22 because there’s no substantial likelihood of conviction for any of the regulatory offences recommended by WorkSafeBC. WorkSafeBC also released the incident investigation report as well as a summary of findings. The explosion occurred three months after a similar incident in Burns Lake, where two workers died and 19 others were injured.
