Sawmill Fined $254,000 for Multiple OHS Violations

A sawmill worker suffered serious injury while performing maintenance work on the drive sprocket of a log feeder that wasn’t locked out. WorkSafeBC inspected and slapped the employer with a $254,063 fine for a laundry list of high-risk OHS citations, including failure to lockout, implement adequate first aid procedures, have designated supervisors for overnight shifts and provide required safety training to supervisors and workers [S. & R.
