Canadian OHS laws are based on the Internal Responsibility System (IRS). A basic tenet of the IRS is that all workplace stakeholders’including workers’are responsible for safety, both their own and that of others. But you may need to remind workers of their role in keeping the workplace safe and how they can do so.
HOW TO USE THE TOOL
Give this safety talk, which is based on one of the tools provided for Canadian Agricultural Safety Week, to workers to teach them how to use the S.A.F.E. approach to assess possible hazards in the workplace. Although the safety talk is written from a farm safety prospective, you can adapt it for any type of workplace.
