Roadside Work Preparation Checklist

BENEFITS

When workers must work on or near roads, they’re at risk of being hit by passing vehicles or by work vehicles being used by co-workers. To adequately protect workers at roadsides, employers should implement appropriate safety measures, such as developing traffic control plans and work zone layouts, using safety equipment such as cones and assigning competent workers to be flaggers.

HOW TO USE THE TOOL

Use this checklist to ensure that your roadside work safety measures are adequate. Adapt it for your OHS program and the traffic control or roadside work requirements in your jurisdiction’s OHS regulations. Require a supervisor to review the checklist with workers before they begin work at a roadside worksite.
