LAW OF THE YEAR
As of Jan. 1, 2012, the territory banned the use of hand-held devices while driving. Drivers face fines of $100 and three demerit points if they’re caught using cell phones, music players or GPS devices.
OTHER NOTABLE REGULATORY CHANGES
In Feb. 2012, the final revisions to the proposed new OHS Regulations were released in two versions: one for the Northwest Territories and one for Nunavut. The government hadn’t adopted the revised regulations yet.
