PPE Violations Result in $2,000 Fine

An Occupational Health Officer saw workers on a roof without required fall protection or protective headwear. Fortunately, there was no incident and no one was injured. The employer pleaded guilty to failing to ensure that workers use a fall protection system at a temporary or permanent work area where a worker may fall three metres or more and, where there’s risk of injury to the head of a worker, failing to provide approved industrial protective headwear and require a worker to use it. He was fined $2,000 [Larry Ledinski, Govt. News Release, March 17, 2017].
