Owner of Roofing Company Fined $9,800 for Fall Protection Violations

Two workers were injured when their scaffold plank broke while they were shingling a house. During a separate inspection, three workers were observed without a proper fall protection system. The owner of the roofing company pleaded guilty to four violations of the OHS Act for failing to utilize a fall protection system, have a written fall protection plan, ensure that scaffold planks were free from defects and ensure that planks didn’t span more than three metres between vertical supports.
