Oct. 14: Three Kids Die in Farming Incident

A 13-year-old and her 11-year-old twin sisters were playing in their family’s loaded grain truck when they got trapped and suffocated in a dense pile of canola seeds. Their parents and neighbours freed them from the truck and performed CPR, but two of the girls couldn’t be revived. The third was taken to the hospital but died overnight. An agricultural safety and health expert said a load of seed acts like quicksand, taking only seconds for a person to become trapped.
