Nov. 3: Residential Neighbourhood Impacted by Sulfuric Acid Fog from Plant

At a plant that processes animal products into gelatin, a number of chemicals, including sulphuric acid, were accidentally mixed together. The combination caused a sulfuric acid fog to fill the air, forcing residents of the Toronto neighbourhood to stay inside or stay away from the area. No serious injuries were reported, but fire officials said eight people were treated for minor throat and eye irritations as a result of the incident.
