Aug 21: The Northwest Territories passed workers’ comp reform legislation (Bill 25). Highlights:
- Clarification of definitions of ‘disability,’ ‘impairment’ and ’employer’
- Elimination of requirement for a primary health care provider
- Clarification of compensation payable to dependent child of a dead worker
- Addition of unemployment benefits as category of remuneration in totaling income
- Authority of WSCC to inspect health care providers’ records to verify services received by a worker.
