Mine Pleads Guilty to OHS Violations in Worker’s Death

A mine worker died after falling almost seven metres when the scaffolding he was working on collapsed. A second worker was seriously injured. The mining company pleaded guilty to three violations of the OHS Act for failing to ensure workers were made aware of health or safety hazards. It’s scheduled to be sentenced on Dec. 19 [The Iron Ore Company of Canada, Dec. 6, 2012].
