Metal Fabricator Fined $100,000 for Worker’s Death from Head Injuries

A worker at a metal fabricator’s facility was measuring an empty container that was third in a row of four. A co-worker used a forklift to retrieve the first container in the row, causing the other containers to bang up against each other. The first worker’s head was caught between the third and fourth containers. He died of severe head trauma. The fabricator was convicted of failing to provide information, instruction and supervision to a worker on the dangers of working in the yard where there’s vehicular traffic.
