About This Webinar
A Joint Health and Safety Committee can be one of the strongest safety assets in the workplace, or it can become a recurring calendar entry that produces little change. The difference usually comes down to structure, follow-through, and whether the committee’s work is connected to real hazard control.
Many employers have committees that meet, take minutes, conduct inspections, and raise concerns. But the same issues keep appearing. Corrective actions stall. Recommendations aren’t tracked. Worker participation becomes passive. Managers attend but don’t act. Over time, the committee exists, but it doesn’t have the influence or documentation strength the organization needs.
This OHS Insider webinar will help safety professionals assess whether their JHSC is compliant, effective, and defensible. We’ll look at legal expectations, committee roles, meeting records, inspection follow-up, recommendations, employer responses, training, and how to measure whether the committee is improving safety outcomes. The goal is to help employers move beyond “we have a committee” to “our committee helps us identify, control, and document risk.”
