Machine Guarding Violation Costs Company $55,000

A worker cutting pieces of steel placed one hand near an open vice. He accidentally hit a switch that closed the vice, crushing part of his hand. The MOL concluded that the moving vice wasn’t guarded to prevent a worker from accessing its pinch point. The company pleaded guilty to a machine guarding violation.
