Machine Guarding Policy

BENEFIT

Machine injuries are among the most common and serious a workplace can experience. OHS laws require employers to prevent these injuries using a technique called machine guarding which is essentially designed to keep workers away from machinery in general and the parts of the machine where damage can be done, including the point of operation where the machine punches, crushes, cuts or otherwise does its thing on the material, moving parts and electrical parts.

HOW TO USE THIS TOOL

While there are a few technical variances, basic machine guarding requirements are fairly uniform across Canada. This while this Model Policy is based on BC OHS regulations, it can be easily adapted for any other jurisdiction.
