WorkSafeBC’s Board of Directors approved 14 amendments to the OHS Regulation, which will take effect May 1, 2017. The amendments relate to the following:

  • Sec. 1.1, Definitions, combustible and flammable liquids
  • Sec. 4.56, General Conditions, work area guards and handrails
  • Secs. 4.81, 4.82 and 28.9, General Conditions, environmental tobacco smoke
  • Sec. 5.71(2), Chemical Agents and Biological Agents, combustible or flammable air contaminants
  • Sec. 6.4, Substance Specific Requirements, asbestos inventory
  • Secs. 6.58.1 to 6.69, Substance Specific Requirements, lead
  • Secs. 6.110 to 6.112.7, Substance Specific Requirements, respirable crystalline silica and rock dust
  • Sec. 12.83.1, Tools, Machinery and Equipment, new section, chassis dynamometer
  • Secs. 13.11, 14.1 and 14.2 Cranes and Hoists, construction material hoists
  • Sec. 14.5, Cranes and Hoists, rated capacity indication and Sec. 14.11, Cranes and Hoists, support structure
  • Sec. 14.81, Cranes and Hoists, limit devices
  • Sec. 20.2, Construction, Excavation and Demolition, notice of project
  • Secs. 22.12(1) and (2), Underground Workings, underground supervisors
  • Sec. 26.13.4, Forestry Operations and Similar Activities, new section, saw chain shot.
