March 22: Inquest into Mine Worker’s Death Began

A mine worker was struck by a pipe that sent him flying more than three metres into a wall, killing him. An inquest into his death just began. The incident happened about a 10- to 15-minute drive underground from the elevator entrance where the emergency vehicle is kept. It took co-workers about 50 minutes to get the injured worker to the surface. By that time, his eyes were fixed and he wasn’t responding.
