June 10: Changes Proposed to Standards for Engine Emissions

To reduce smog-forming air pollutants from common household tools, such as lawn mowers, snow blowers and chainsaws, the government proposed changes to the Off-Road Small Spark-Ignition Engine Emission Regulations. The amendments would only apply to the manufacture and import of new products into Canada and would align Canada-US engine and equipment emissions standards. Comments on the proposal may be submitted until Aug. 25, 2016.
