July 23: Watch for Wild Animals on the Roads

WorkSafeBC reminded employers and workers of the hazard of encountering wild animals on the road while driving. Traffic accidents involving animals such as bears, moose, deer and elk are common and, because they’re big animals, can cause serious injuries. Workers most at risk of encountering wild animals include those employed in oil and gas, silviculture, parks and conservation, forestry, guides, outfitters, industrial or recreational camps, orchards, commercial fishing and construction.
