Dec. 12: Presumptive Cover of Certain Cancers for Firefighters Proposed

The government proposed an amendment to the Workplace Health, Safety and Compensation Act and related regulations to provide presumptive cancer coverage for career and volunteer firefighters. If enacted, a firefighter who serves for a specified period of time and develops one of 11 forms of cancer will be presumed to have developed that cancer as a result of their work and so can get worker’s comp benefits.
