In Jan. 2014, MOL inspectors targeted construction hazards during a blitz at active, existing workplaces where non-construction workers were actively employed and doing work. Inspectors conducted 903 visits to 808 workplaces and issued 1,696 orders and requirements under the OHS Act, including 80 stop work orders. Stop work orders were most frequently issued at:
- Commercial building projects (i.e., retail stores, restaurants) (26 orders)
- Industrial building projects (i.e., factories, warehouses) (13 orders)
- Institutional building projects (i.e., schools, hospitals) (eight orders).
