Company Penalized $225,000 for Sale of Aerosol Products Containing HCFC-225

Environment and Climate Change Canada enforcement officers conducted an investigation into a company’s import and sale of aerosol products containing a prohibited ozone-depleting substance, specifically HCFC-225. As a result of that investigation, the company pleaded guilty to two violations of the Ozone-Depleting Substances Regulations, 1998 under the CEPA 1999. The court ordered it to pay $225,000 to the Environmental Damages Fund and all costs associated with the removal and destruction of the products seized during the investigation [CRC Canada Co., Govt.
