Sept. 4: Blueberry Farm Hit with Orders for Not Reporting Injury
WorkSafeBC hit a blueberry farm with 18 orders based on unreported serious injury that happened four months ago. Workers were applying herbicide using a boom-mounted spray applicator towed by a tractor when the applicator tipped, severely injuring one of them. The agency learned of the incident from the media. The orders cite the farm’s failures to immediately conduct an incident investigation, keep up-to-date written procedures for providing first aid and provide evidence of records of new worker orientation and training, among other things.
