Sept. 3: Government Workers Take a Lot of Sick Days
The Canadian Taxpayers Federation says government workers in Prince Edward Island take 80% more sick days than workers in the private sector. Employees of the federal, provincial and municipal governments on the Island take an average of 11.3 sick days a year, while private sector workers take 6.3. These public sector figures are also higher than the national average, which is 10.5 days. The data was compiled by Statistics Canada.
