Sept. 26: Train Derailment Results in Oil Spill
A CN train of 17 rail cars—some carrying flammable petroleum, ethanol and chemicals—derailed near Landis, requiring the closing of a nearby school. No one was injured. Hazardous material crews cleaned up the spilled oil. The RCMP said no other vehicle was involved in the derailment. The Transportation Safety Board of Canada is investigating the cause of the derailment.
