An advisory group prepared a progress report on its comprehensive mining safety review. (The final report will be provided early next year.) In response to the preliminary work, Ontario will:
- Improve the visibility of workers through increased promotion of high visibility apparel
- Develop a mining health database to track incidents of illness and exposure to a number of carcinogenic substances
- Create a sharper focus on hazards to improve health and well-being in the new training standards for JHSCs
- Fund a study that will look for ways to reduce loss of feeling in the feet triggered by continuous use of vibrating machinery.
