WCB Nova Scotia announced its rates for 2017. Long-term care is seeing a rate increase of 6%, while home care will get an increase of 13%. But the fishing industry will get a 16% rate drop. Although the average rate is holding steady for the 13th year at $2.65 per $100 of assessable payroll, about 58% of employers will pay less than they did last year. In addition, a small number of employers are surcharged, meaning their cost experience is at least three times higher than their industry average for at least four consecutive years.
