Oct. 31: The new Noise Regulations will take effect. They apply to all Island businesses who have “on site” noise levels that may harm their workers’ hearing. Employers must use any reasonable means possible to reduce noise levels and, if reductions aren’t possible, protect workers from noise that exceeds levels set out in Sec. 8.3 of the regulations. In addition, employers must establish noise control and hearing conservation programs when they can’t comply with noise exposure limits.
