Feb. 1: Changes to WSIB policy on determining the date of a worker’s injury are now in effect. Highlights of the new Operational Policy (Doc. No. 11-01-04):
- Chance event injuries: date of actual incident
- Unexpected result disablement claim: when unexpected result of working duties occurs
- Gradual onset disablement claim: earlier of: 1) date of first medical attention which led to diagnosis or 2) date of diagnosis
- Occupational disease claim: actual date of incident, if known; if not known, use date medical attention was first sought for symptoms, or date of assessment by a specialist.
