Workers’ Compensation Rates
Oct. 31: The 2018 average assessment rate has been cut 10% to $1.60 per $100 of payroll. Industry rates will be announced in December. More good news: The WCB will distribute $21.4 million in surplus funds to eligible employers in November.
Workers’ Compensation Benefits
Dec. 1: The WCB will wrap up public consultations on proposed increases to travel and meal benefits of injured workers who need to travel outside the province for treatment of their work injuries (under Policy POL-03): revised its vocational rehab policy (POL-03) to clarify:

Oct.: First responders, firefighters and police departments received government-issued kits containing pre-loaded syringes of naloxone, a medicine used to counteract the effects of opioids and other potent drugs.
