April 26: A government memo leaked to CBC News reveals that Saskatchewan is going to introduce new licensing rules requiring Class 1 semi-truck drivers to complete a 70-hour training course starting in 2019. The new policy comes in the wake of the recent tragedy in which a truck collided with a highway bus carrying members of the Humboldt Broncos junior hockey team, killing 16 and injuring 13.
April 25: As expected, Saskatchewan has gone to court to challenge the federal government’s constitutional powers to impose a carbon tax on the province. The carbon tax is a job killer and goes against the made-in-Saskatchewan plan for reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
