Oct. 9: Changes to Pesticides Regulation Proposed
The province is proposing changes to the Integrated Pest Management Regulation to ensure cosmetic pesticides are being used safely and responsibly. These revisions will require stricter control on the sale and use of pesticides in private landscaped areas, while simplifying requirements for the sale and use of pesticides commonly considered safe. The proposed changes include the following requirements:
- A licence is required in order to apply most pesticides in private landscaped areas.
- Licence holders must employ trained pesticide applicators and practice Integrated Pest Management.
