Oct. 13: Funds from Fine to Be Used to Restore Trout River
The federal government is investing $30,000 toward the restoration of a branch of the Trout River. The funding comes from the fine a local potato farmer paid for causing two major fish kills in the river. The Prince County Chapter of Trout Unlimited Canada has received the money from the federal Environmental Damages Fund. The restoration project, which is scheduled to be completed in the spring of 2018, is meant to remove blockages to restore the passage of fish and the flow of the river.
